The Queue In World of Warcraft: Me, myself and everybody else

It is impossible to keep ourselves from being spoiled, even if we wanted to do so. We make sure to put spoiler tags on critical lore moments in the story of an expansion to give all of you the choice of skipping it, but we typically don’t get the option of skipping spoilers.

The Light and How to Swing It: The Val’anyr effect

Every class was designed with a specific flavor in mind. If you read Blizzard’s official descriptions of the classes, you’ll see that skills and abilities were not assigned at random.

World Of Warcraft Battle Resurrections May Get Increased Cooldowns

This was actually an offhand remark of Ghostcrawler’s a few days ago, but it didn’t seem to get much attention. In a thread devoted to the possibility of extending buffs like Blessing of Kings to additional classes in Cataclysm, Ghostcrawler mentioned the following: Ghostcrawler Obviously things like Rebirth can’t just be handed to out to more classes unless we did something like a second exhaustion mechanic for battle rez or whatever. For now we’re going to try the cooldown at 30 min again. In Icecrown’s world of limited attempts, a 30 min cooldown likely meant you just cooled your heels until the cooldown was available again. In Cataclysm the hope is sometimes you’ll have the benefit available but not every time, which scales back on how much of a game-changer it is. An alternative to a longer cooldown for Rebirth is something where one druid using it would trip everyone’s cooldown for a few minutes. That it’s a bit gamey, but might

South Park animation staff talks about “Make Love Not Warcraft”

Did you know the episode was actually shot on the Burning Crusade alpha server? (Blizzard simply made it so that anyone who got in the way of filming mysteriously vanished…) Or that filming didn’t stop until 3AM on the day the show was to air? These, and many other interesting tidbits about the making of South Park’s very own World of Warcraft machinima can be found in Machinima.com’s interview with Frank Agnone (Producer), J. J. Franzen (Technology Supervisor), and Eric Stough (Director of Animation). So if you’re a big fan of South Park and wanting a look behind the making of the show or a machinima maker curious as to how television got involved in the art it’s worth a read!

Spiritual Guidance: ICC-10 gear guide for holy and discipline priests

Every Sunday Spiritual Guidance offers holy and discipline priests advice on how to wield the holy light and groove to the disco night. Your hostess Dawn Moore will provide the music. Hey ladies! Hey fellas! You know you’re doin’ good ’cause they’re jealous *Pop-Pop* And they only hate ya ’cause you’re a go-getter *Pop-Pop* Pop ya collar – Don’t let ‘em sweat ‘cha! *POP* No clue what I’m talking about? Trust me, it’s better that way. Though, if you don’t know why I’m talking about popped collars, let me direct you to the picture above. It would seem popped collars are all the rage in Icecrown Citadel. I don’t know what Blizzard was thinking with this, especially for priests. If anything, warlocks and mages are the frat boys of WoW. Or paladins. Well, whatever it is, this week I’ll be talking about loot drops in Icecrown Citadel. But first, a story. The other day, I was in 10-man ICC with

Encrypted Text: Rogue tips for raiding Icecrown Citadel, Part 2

Every Wednesday, Chase Christian of Encrypted Text invites you to enter the world of shadows, as we explore the secrets and mechanics of the Rogue class. This week, we discuss some of the tips and tricks to remember when raiding Icecrown Citadel’s second wing, the Plagueworks. Blizzard has stepped up the pacing mechanic in Icecrown Citadel, releasing each new wing in two week intervals. With the latest wing, the Crimson Halls / Blood Wing (also called Vampire Wing if you’re a Twilight fan), recently unveiled, there’s bound to be a ton of interest in raiding ICC on your server. This week, I’d like to talk about the bosses that were released in the previous wing, the Plagueworks (Unholy). Once I get a chance to fight the Blood Princes and Blood Queen Lana’Thel first-hand, I’ll have a write-up posted here. The Plagueworks revolves around Professor Putricide and his two abomination creations: Rotface and Festergut. Each of his children have a

Breakfast Topic: What are you doing to protect your account?

While it is certainly nothing new, it seems that you can’t spit without hitting someone who has, or has had, a compromised account. These WoW account predators are getting more clever by the day, with using everything from keyloggers, sham contests, betas and security checks, to even grabbing an account and immediately attaching an authenticator to it. Now, any moderately-savvy internet user would just scoff, and say that they take all necessary precautions — what’s there to worry about? Fair enough, but what about those who, well, don’t? Blizzard has said time and time again about safe-guarding your account information, yet people still jump onto those fake Cataclysm betas and fancy new mount prizes. Make something idiot-proof, and they’ll build a better idiot, eh? That being said, what are you doing to protect your prized polygons? Do you have a good anti-virus installed? A malware scanner? If you don’t have an authenticator, how come?

World of WarCrafts: The world of papercraft

Papercrafting is not the same thing as origami, which is the Japanese art of folding paper into intricate representations, preferably without cutting or glue. Papercrafting, in contrast, is the process of creating scale models from heavy, pre-printed paper or stock. Craftsy types download patterns rated by difficulty from sites such as World of Warcrafts Unofficial Papercrafts. Site manager Pascal was profiled last year by the Blizzard’s official European WoW community site. We talked to Pascal recently for a fresh spin on WoW papercrafting.
